KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – Residents in several areas of Keene should prepare for temporary disruptions as critical upgrades to the city’s fire hydrants and water main valves get underway this Friday, Sept 20.
The project, carried out by Frank Lucius Construction on behalf of Keene’s Public Works Department, will target multiple intersections and residential streets, aiming to boost the overall reliability of the city’s water system.
Work is scheduled at the following locations:
- West Street at James St.
- Water Street at Crossfield St.
- In front of 42 Water St.
- In front of 62 Foster St.
- Congress Street at Baker St.
- Congress Street at Tiffin St.
- In front of 61 Congress St.
The two-week-long project is expected to take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily, weather permitting. During this time, water service in these areas will be interrupted for six to eight hours. Residents and businesses affected by the outage will be notified via door tags at least 48 hours before work begins.
Drivers and pedestrians are advised to be cautious around work zones, where lane closures and traffic disruptions are anticipated. The construction areas will be clearly marked and barricaded, but caution is urged when navigating near open excavations or heavy equipment.
These upgrades are part of the city’s ongoing efforts to ensure a more dependable water supply.
