(MyKeeneNow) Jean L. (Waldo) Carey, 82, of Keene, passed away Thursday, June 13, at Cheshire Medical Center after a period of failing health.
She was born June 21,1941 in Hanover, N.H. to the late Dorothy (Morrill) Waldo and Seaver Waldo. She moved to Keene from Barre, VT, when she was 6 and she spent the rest of her life in Keene. She graduated from Keene High School, class of 1959.
On July 2, 1960, Jean exchanged vows with the love of her life, Gerald Carey at the United Church of Christ in Keene, surrounded by the love of family and friends.
She was formerly employed by Cheshire Medical Center as the executive administrator assistant for Support Services where she retired. Prior, she worked for Economy Plumbing and Heating of Keene and American Optical in Keene.
Jean had many passions in life, but her number one passion was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed bowling, playing softball, and horseshoes.
She is survived by her daughter, Michele McDonald and her husband, Douglas, of Sullivan, N.H.; her grandchildren, Brice (Morin) Barey and his husband, James of Harrington, DE and Alex Morin and his wife, Molly, of Sullivan as well as her two great- grandchildren, Rowan Morin and Bailey Morin of Sullivan; a sister, Shirley Grossi of Keene, along with cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She is predeceased by her parents, Dorothy (Morrill) Waldo and Seaver Waldo; her husband of 62 years, Gerald Carey; and her sister, Irene Maguire.
A private graveside service will be held in the family lot at Monadnock View Cemetery, Friday, August 23, 2024 at 10 a.m.
