KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) The Keene Family YMCA is embarking on a nationwide search to find its next chief executive officer following the recent departure of Dan Smith, who stepped down from the role on Nov. 22 to become CEO of the Greater Burlington YMCA in Vermont.
In collaboration with the YMCA of the USA National Resource Office and the Northern New England Alliance of YMCAs, the Board of Directors expects the search to take five to six months, according to a news release.
To ensure stability during this transitional period, Helene Mogridge, a former CEO of the Keene Family YMCA, has been appointed Interim CEO, the release said. Helene Mogridge was CEO from 2012 until her retirement in 2019.
Smith had been with the Keene Y since 2019, and previously was the CEO of a YMCA in Michigan.
The Keene Family YMCA, located on Summit Road, serves the community through programs supporting youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Details about the CEO position and application process are available online.
For over a century, the Y has been a cornerstone of the Keene community, providing services such as early childhood education, fitness programs, and aquatics. As the search for a new CEO begins, the organization remains focused on its commitment to fostering a healthier, more connected community.
