KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) A Keene couple got an unexpected welcome to parenthood earlier this week when their baby boy arrived just outside the fire station.

Stephanie and Noah Weston were on their way to Cheshire Medical Center on Tuesday, Sept. 23, when Stephanie, 41 weeks pregnant, knew their son wasn’t going to wait.

Noah, an electrician and Army Reservist, quickly realized they wouldn’t make it to the hospital in time.

He called 911 at 2:11 p.m., and just six minutes later, their son, Walker, was born—right in the front seat of their truck in front of Keene Fire Department’s Central Station on Vernon Street.

When they pulled up to the Vernon Street station, firefighters rushed to help. “The chief announced it,” Noah said. “He said, ‘You might want to write this down—time of birth, 14:17 (2:17 p.m.).”

Noah had prepared for the birth with videos and tips on supporting his wife in the hospital, but the fast-paced delivery left him improvising.

Walker arrived healthy, weighing 7 pounds, 14 ounces, and both mother and baby were soon transported to Cheshire Medical Center for further care.

“My wife said, ‘Did this just happen?'” he said of the shocking experience.

The Westons, who also have a 10-year-old stepson, are now home, enjoying family time and looking forward to the holidays. Stephanie is scheduled for a full 12 weeks of maternity leave.

The story was also shared on the Keene Fire Department’s Facebook page, highlighting the importance of calling 911 in emergencies. “Although our fire stations are staffed regularly, crews are often training or responding to calls. Every second counts, and calling 911 ensures the closest available team is dispatched,” the post noted.
