The WOW program is a collaboration between Keene Parks & Recreation and Keene Public Works. It will feature “Ward Wednesdays” on social media, where Keene Parks & Recreation will highlight the parks, trails, and amenities in each ward. Residents can follow along on Facebook and Instagram.
In addition to maintenance efforts, the Community Development Department, in partnership with the Keene Public Library, will host community nights in each ward. These events, which will include food, yard games, giveaways, and raffles, are designed to bring neighbors together and provide an opportunity for residents to share their concerns and priorities with city staff. The events are family-friendly and open to all.
The WOW schedule is as follows:
- Ward 1: Sept. 9-13 (Community night: Sept. 12 at Pat Russell Park, 4-5:30 p.m.)
- Ward 2: Sept. 16-20 (Community night: Sept. 17 at Robin Hood Park, 4-5:30 p.m.)
- Ward 3: Sept. 23-27 (Community night: Sept. 24 at Fuller Park, 4-5:30 p.m.)
- Ward 4: Sept. 30-Oct. 4 (Community night: Oct. 2 at Wheelock Park, 4-5:30 p.m.)
- Ward 5: Oct. 7-11 (Community night: Oct. 8 at Wheelock Park, 4-5:30 p.m.)
Throughout the WOW initiative, city staff will work on various projects, including road maintenance, repainting crosswalks, replacing traffic signs, trimming roadside vegetation, maintaining sidewalks, painting hydrants, and cleaning and repairing storm drains, culverts, and ditches. Additionally, park and trail maintenance, graffiti removal, and litter clearing will be prioritized to improve the city’s cleanliness and appearance.
Residents are encouraged to submit their maintenance requests through the SeeClickFix website or app. For those who experience issues with online submissions, requests can also be made by calling the Public Works office directly at 352-6550.
The WOW program is an opportunity for residents to get involved, voice their concerns, and help improve their community. The city hopes the initiative will foster a greater sense of community pride and enhance the quality of life for all Keene residents.
