KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) The Keene Parks and Recreation Department has announced that Robin Hood Pond and the children’s skating area at Wheelock Park are officially open for public skating.

In a recent Facebook post, the department expressed gratitude to their parks crew for their efforts in preparing the skating areas for the community to enjoy.

“We are excited to announce that Robin Hood Pond and the kids’ skating area at Wheelock Park are open for skating! Thank you to our parks crew for all of their hard work getting these spaces ready for the community to enjoy!” the post stated.

While these two locations are ready for use, the larger skating rink at Wheelock Park remains closed for the time being. Officials noted that the cement surface of the larger rink requires specific conditions, including sufficient snow and cold temperatures, to prepare it for skating. The department assured residents that updates will be provided as soon as the rink is ready.

In the meantime, families and skating enthusiasts are encouraged to head to Robin Hood Pond or the kids’ rink to enjoy some winter fun.
