KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – Two Keene women are facing charges after police in West Springfield, Massachusetts say they were caught shoplifting.
Around 7 p.m. Tuesday evening officers responded to Dick’s Sporting Goods in West Springfield on a report of two shoplifters who, according to a news release, had filled a black trash bag with merchandise and fled the store. An undercover Detective working in the area saw the suspects as they fled the store with the overflowing bag of merchandise and stopped them behind an adjacent business along with responding Patrol Officers and Store Loss Prevention personnel.
The release says the suspects, identified as Sara Ann Frazier and Amanda Lyn Amer, both of Keene, attempted to give police false information but ultimately were positively identified.
The bag contained $1,871.98 worth of stolen merchandise, along with cut and clipped security cables and ink pods and a wire cutting device. Frazier was also found to be wearing three stolen items under her clothes totaling an additional $375. The amount of all of the stolen merchandise totaled $2,246.98.
Both Frazier and Amer were taken into custody without further incident and charged with Larceny over $1,200, Possession of Burglarious Tools, and Unlawful Removal of a Theft Detection Device.
