KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Drivers in Keene should plan for traffic delays midweek as city crews and contractors carry out separate public works projects on West and Main streets.
Beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 22–23, SUR Construction will be working in the intersection of West and Island streets. Eastbound traffic on West Street will be limited to one lane during the day, and lane patterns may shift as crews complete the work. Flaggers will direct vehicles through the intersection, and motorists are encouraged to avoid the area if possible. Island Street will remain accessible from Winchester Street.
At the same time, GVC Construction will install a new sewer manhole in front of 389 Main Street as part of the City of Keene’s ongoing sewer rehabilitation program. That project is expected to cause temporary lane and sidewalk closures, with brief interruptions to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
City officials are urging drivers to stay alert, follow posted signs and flagger directions, and allow extra time when traveling through construction zones.
