KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Keene State College is set to host the 2024 Little East Conference (LEC) Men’s Golf Championship at the Keene Country Club. Originally slated for Western Connecticut State University in 2024, the event location was changed due to a last-minute issue with their reserved course. Western Connecticut and Keene State switched hosting duties, allowing the tournament to take place this year in Keene.
The championship kicks off today, Wednesday, Oct. 2. Rounds begin today at 9 a.m., with tee times starting at 10-minute intervals. Wednesday’s round will feature the golfers from the fifth, fourth, and third place teams from last year’s championship, while the top-ranked teams will tee off later in the day. Thursday’s tee times will be based on the results of the first round, with a 9 a.m. start once again.
Six teams will be competing: Keene State College, the University of Southern Maine, Eastern Connecticut State University, Rhode Island College, Vermont State University Castleton, and Western Connecticut State University. Each team fields five golfers, and the tournament is decided by the lowest overall team score across two days of 18-hole rounds. The top 10 individual performers will be recognized, with the top five named First Team All-LEC, the next five Second Team All-LEC, and the individual with the best overall score crowned the LEC individual champion.
Keene State finished second in last year’s championship and is considered a strong contender this year. Key players to watch include sophomore Sean Bonneau, last year’s LEC Rookie of the Year, and junior Sean McCaffrey, both expected to lead the Keene State team.
Spectators are welcome at the Keene Country Club to witness some of the top collegiate golfers in New England. With all players teeing off from the first hole, there will be plenty of opportunities to watch the action unfold.
