KEENE, N.H. – (MyKeeneNow) Keene State College has welcomed back a familiar face to lead its softball team. Haley Chandler, a KSC alumna from the class of 2013, has been named the new head coach of the college’s softball program, according to a news release.
Chandler previously coached at Salem High School in New Hampshire, where she served since 2019. During her tenure, she earned the NHIAA Division I Coach of the Year award twice, in 2021 and 2024. Under her leadership, Salem High’s softball team secured the Division I state title in 2021 with a victory over Concord High School. Chandler’s impressive record at Salem includes a 72-18 win-loss tally and multiple tournament semifinal appearances. Notably, 13 of her players advanced to collegiate-level softball.
She replaces Carrah Fisk Hennessey, who held the position for 10 years before she became the City of Keene’s director of Parks and Recreation.
Chandler’s illustrious playing career at Keene State from 2009 to 2012 is well-documented. She earned Second Team All-LEC honors twice and First Team All-LEC honors twice. During her time, the Owls claimed the ECAC Championship three times and made a notable run in the NCAA Division III tournament in her senior year, reaching the regional championship game.
Chandler’s name is etched in the Keene State record books. She holds several records, including the most career hits (214), games played and started (170), and runs scored (165). Additionally, she ranks in the top 10 for several other statistical categories, showcasing her all-around talent and dedication to the sport.
As Chandler prepares to begin her coaching duties in August, the Keene State community eagerly anticipates the positive impact she will bring to the softball program.
