Keene State College Announces 2024 Athletics Hall of Fame Inductees

KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) The Keene State College Department of Athletics and Recreation is proud to announce the 2024 Hall of Fame induction class, celebrating the achievements of four distinguished athletes and one historic team. The induction ceremony will take place on September 13, 2024, in the Starlight Room of the Zorn Dining Commons on the KSC campus.

Bob Bonnes: A Lacrosse Pioneer

Bob Bonnes, a standout from the early days of Keene State men’s lacrosse, is being recognized for his exceptional contributions from 1998 to 2000. Bonnes played a pivotal role in the nascent stages of the program, highlighted by his record-setting performance of eight goals in the Owls’ first-ever win over the University of New England. Despite the Little East Conference not sponsoring men’s lacrosse until 2001, Bonnes and his teammates laid the groundwork for future successes in the Pilgrim League. Bonnes remains in the top 15 in school history for points (203), goals (152), and assists (51), and boasts impressive single-season records, including 59 goals and 78 points in 1999.

David Bridgewater: A Distance Running Legend

David Bridgewater, an outstanding distance runner, earned All-American honors twice in cross country and five times in track and field. Bridgewater’s tenure from 2001 to 2004 saw him lead the Owls to four consecutive Little East Conference championships in cross country, claiming individual titles in 2003 and 2004. His track and field accolades include 10 LEC individual championships and multiple All-America honors. Bridgewater also holds school records in the distance medley relay and the 4×800 meter relay, cementing his legacy as one of Keene State’s all-time greats.

Allison Bartlett: Swimming Sensation

Allison Bartlett, a two-time swimming All-American, played a crucial role in the Owls’ four consecutive Little East Conference championships. Bartlett was named the LEC Rookie Swimmer of the Year in 2013 and Swimmer of the Year in 2014 and 2015. Her outstanding performances at the NCAA championships earned her All-America honors in the 50 freestyle in 2015 and 2016, along with an Honorable Mention in the 100 freestyle in 2016. Bartlett still holds school records in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle events, as well as in the 200 and 800 freestyle relays.

1972 Keene State Softball Team: Trailblazers

The 1972 Keene State College softball team holds a special place in history as the first team to participate in the AIAW Softball National Championships. This pioneering squad, led by head coach Dr. Sherry Bovinet and co-captains Betty Misiaszek and Debbie Parker, posted a remarkable 6-1 record. They achieved a significant milestone by being the only New England school to compete in the championships, where they finished ninth overall. Despite the challenges of limited fast-pitch competition in New England and the disruptions of the pre-Title IX era, their legacy continues to inspire.

Honoring Excellence

Keene State College is honored to celebrate these exceptional athletes and the 1972 softball team, whose contributions have left an indelible mark on the college’s athletic history. The Hall of Fame induction ceremony promises to be a memorable evening, bringing together past and present members of the Keene State community to honor the achievements and enduring legacy of these outstanding individuals.
