KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Under two weeks after Valerie Luizzi of the Keene State College women’s basketball team joined the 1,000 career points club, a member of the men’s team has become the third player in the program this season to join the exclusive club. With his 38 points in a Monday matinee 89-87 victory against Middlebury College, Jordan Cooper passed 1,000 points in his collegiate career, finishing Monday’s contest with 1,014 career points.

The junior transfer from Bridgewater College (Va.) didn’t score all of his points with the Owls like Luizzi and other 1,000 career point club member Brynn Rautiola, but in just 16 games for KSC, he’s already amassed 340 total points, good for 21.3 points per game. Cooper isn’t a high volume, low efficiency scorer either. He’s shooting 45 percent from the field and 41 percent from 3-point land.

“Congratulations to Jordan Cooper on his 1,000th point as a college player; we needed all 38 of them [Monday],” Owls head coach Steven Enright said following the game.

38 points isn’t just a season high for Cooper, it’s a career high. And like he’s done all season, he did it in a very efficient way, shooting 14-of-25, or 56 percent from the floor, as well as getting to the free throw line 11 times and nailing nine from the charity stripe.

And Cooper’s points came when it mattered most, as 25 of his eventual 38 points were scored in the second half, after Keene State College entered the half down by two points. He’s been on a tear lately, too; over his past eight games, the junior is averaging 26.5 points a game over this stretch while shooting 47.5 percent from the field and near 50 percent from beyond the arc.

In addition to his 38 points, Cooper also grabbed 10 rebounds, which marked his first double-double of the season. He is currently averaging 5.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game in his first season with the Owls.

Cooper and KSC are next in action on Wednesday, taking on UMass-Dartmouth at home. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
