How it Happened
Western Connecticut State was on the attack early, as they recorded three shots in the opening 4:24 of play. After the first pair of shots missed the target, Suzana Imetovski found Adriana Alfano for the third shot, who buried it into the back of the net to put the Wolves up a goal very early on in the contest. WCSU continued to push for another goal early in the half, as they recorded three shots on goal over the next 11 minutes, but KSC’s goalkeeper, Riley Andriski, was able to save all three shots from the Wolves. KSC looked to answer as the half started to come to a close, as the Owls got off three shots on goal of their own, but WCSU’s goalkeeper, Gracen Regan, saved all three shots to hold KSC scoreless going into the half.
Andriski opened the second half with another save, preventing Alfano from scoring her second of the game, after four corner kick attempts from the Wolves. In the 54th minute, Imetovski added a pair of points to her one from earlier in the game, when she scored from Hannah Blacher, to give WCSU a 2-0 lead early in the second. Over the next 20 minutes, the Wolves outshot the Owls, 6-1, with Andriski stopping the only shot attempt that reached the goal for WCSU. KSC tried to mount a comeback attempt in the final few minutes of the contest, as Emily O’Connell tried to find the back of the net, but Regan made a save to stop the Owls attempt. Shortly after Regan’s save, Imetovski scored on the other end of the field again for the Wolves, to put the final nail in the coffin and cement the Wolves’ victory over KSC.
