KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) If you hear a siren coming from Keene State College on Thursday morning, don’t be alarmed. The college will run its routine emergency broadcast system test at 10 a.m.

The drill will include a loudspeaker announcement from Spaulding Gymnasium, as well as Owl Alert text and email notifications sent to students and staff. College officials stressed that no response is needed from the public or campus community.

The warning system, designed to alert people to immediate threats, is tested twice a year. While the siren is aimed at outdoor areas, it may carry well beyond campus boundaries.

“Testing is important,” said Jessica Trombley, assistant director for Campus Safety. “We appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience.”
