How it Happened
Keene State dominated on the attack in the opening 45 minutes of action, as the Owls outshot the Falcons 12-0. KSC recorded three shots on goal over the first 20 minutes of the first half, but the Falcons’ goalkeeper, Madison Dawkins, made three saves, denying Bryn Dickinson, Claire Halligan, and Allison Kenyon of opening the scoring early on. Later in the first half, the Falcons blocked their third shot from KSC on the day with less than seven minutes remaining and Dawkins made one more save in the final few minutes on a far free kick from Giuliana Stolfi as the teams headed into the half tied at 0-0.
After Cassandra Pendleton made a pair of saves early in the second half for FSU, KSC opened the scoring 2:28 into the half. Elizabeth Tschudin sent a pass from midfield out ahead of Dickinson and after taking a touch, she sent a shot off the left post and into the back of the net to put the Owls ahead 1-0 in the 48th minute. It only took 90 seconds for the Owls to find the back of the net again as Kenyon sent a cross into the Falcons’ box and after a deflection, Tschudin took a shot that went past Pendleton to put KSC up 2-0. FSU had the first corner kick of the day in the 51st minute, which led to their first shot, but the Owls’ goalkeeper, Riley Andriski, made the save to preserve the lead for KSC. Kenyon added more points to her total on the day in the 57th minute as Elise Saab sent a pass from deep in the Owls’ defensive half down the sideline out ahead of Kylie Rapoza. Rapoza blazed past the Falcon defender and dribbled towards the goal before sending a pass to Kenyon for the one timer for her third goal of the season to put KSC up 3-0. The remainder of the contest, neither team found the back of the net again as Pendleton made three more saves, including on a pair of back-to-back shots, while Andriski made two more saves and the Owls hung on for the 3-0 victory.
