KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – A Keene woman is facing charges after police say she intentionally contaminated products at a local business.

On February 14th the Keene Police Department received an anonymous report that an online content creator, identified as 23-year-old Kelli Tedford, of Keene, had posted videos of herself contaminating items at the Monadnock Food Co-op with her urine, according to a news release.

Once the Co-op was notified all of the affected product was removed and a recalled was issued, which is available on the Co-op’s website.

Investigators reviewed numerous other videos posted by Tedford. The release says it appears likely that similar incidents have occurred in Keene and other surrounding communities in the past where Tedford contaminated items and/or surfaces with urine, with several videos recorded as early as 2021.

Tedford was taken into custody on Friday and is charged with a felony count of Criminal Mischief. She was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in court on April 7th.

The investigation remains ongoing and additional criminal charges are possible. Anyone who witnessed suspicious incidents involving Tedford or who purchased a possibly contaminated item should contact Detective Don Lundin of the Keene Police Department at 603-357-9813.

As a result of the incident reported on Valentines Day the Monadnock Food Co-op sustained a financial loss in excess of $1,500 in destroyed merchandise and cleaning costs.

“Our community’s health and safety remain our top priorities. While this was a highly unusual situation, we took swift action in accordance with our food safety and recall procedures,” the Co-op said in the recall notification on its website. “We have also been in direct communication with the Keene Health Department, which has confirmed that no ongoing risks remain.”

The Co-op said the incident occurred on February 10th.
