KEENE, N.H. — (MyKeeneNow) The City of Keene’s recently-hired director of Parks and Recreation began her new job early this week.
Carrah Fisk-Hennessey, hired in May, has more than 20 years of experience in coaching, education, and community leadership, according to city officials in a news release.
She has an extensive background in both athletic and educational fields. She previously served as head softball coach and adjunct professor of elementary education at Keene State College.
Her experience includes planning and implementing comprehensive programs, managing budgets, and overseeing staff recruitment and retention. She has been instrumental in developing community partnerships and promoting health and wellness initiatives, the release states.
Her extensive community engagement includes working with Special Olympics events, leading Keene K-1 basketball, volunteering in local schools for Read Across America, and serving on local and national athletic leadership groups. She is also a New Hampshire certified elementary and special educator and served as the longtime Keene State College Student Athlete Advisory Committee Advisor.
“Her dedication to serving others aligns perfectly with the mission of the Parks and Recreation Department,” said Andy Bohannon, Deputy City Manager and former Parks and Recreation Director.
Fisk-Hennessey officially started her new role on July 1.
