KEENE, N.H. – (MyKeeneNow) The Keene Fire Department swiftly responded to a fire inside a residential unit at Covenant Living at 95 Wyman Road in Keene Tuesday.

Firefighters responded to a call that came in just before 4 p.m. and arrived to find a stovetop fire that has spread to cabinets, microwave oven and a wall of an apartment in the multi-family building. Staff at the facility had extinguised the fire before the apartment’s sprinkler system activated and it was fully brought under control by just after 4 p.m.

Property loss was estimated at between $5,000 and $10,000. The fire was determined to be accidental, according to a news release, caused by items left on an electric stovetop that was inadvertently turned on during a move.

No one was injured in the incident.
