(MyKeeneNow) – A statewide Labor Day enforcement effort aimed at reducing impaired driving resulted in 40 arrests across New Hampshire.

The initiative, called “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” was led by the New Hampshire Office of Highway Safety (NHOHS) and took place from Aug. 23 to Sept. 2.

Law enforcement officials reported a range of charges, including DUI, speeding, reckless driving, drug offenses, and outstanding warrants. The campaign also saw the involvement of more than 60 police departments across state, county, and local levels, with officers stopping a total of 1,675 vehicles. In addition to the arrests, officers issued 1,626 warnings and 169 citations.

The goal of the annual initiative is to keep New Hampshire’s roads safer by targeting impaired drivers. Funded by grants from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the campaign is part of a broader national effort to curb drunk and reckless driving during the busy holiday period.

Authorities praised the collaboration between various law enforcement agencies and highlighted the importance of keeping impaired drivers off the road to save lives. The NHOHS extended gratitude to both participating officers and the public for their role in making the roads safer during the holiday weekend.
