WASHINGTON, D.C. (MyKeeneNow) – A handful of local students are among the dozens nominated by U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen for the United States Service Academies.
Shaheen nominated 51 Granite State students who will now be considered by the U.S. Military Academy (USMA), U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) for appointment to the Class of 2029.
Among those 51 students, four are local to the Monadnock Region.
Colin Hennigan, a resident of West Chesterfield and student at Keene High School was nominated for the USMA, and Kyle Ashley of Newport, student at Newport High School was nominated for the USNA.
Henry Main of Peterborough, student at AFNORTH International High School, and Christian Oxendine of Keene and the USAF Academy Preparatory School were both nominated for the USAFA.
“These extraordinary Granite State students have worked to maintain outstanding academic records and have demonstrated their dedication to our nation through their desire to attend one of the United States Service Academies,” the Senator said in a news release. “I have no doubt that these bright young men and women will make New Hampshire proud, and will succeed wherever their paths lead them.”
