BRATTLEBORO, VT. – (MyKeeneNow) A man has been arrested after aggressive and hate-motivated incidents.
Brandon Bane, 40, of Stockton, CA, was arrested in Brattleboro for making death threats and using hate speech.
According to a news release from the Brattleboro Police Department, the initial incident occurred on July 13 at around 6 p.m. Saturday evening when officers responded to a reported assault near Park Place. Bane allegedly threatened to kill the victim, simulated having a knife, and used aggressive behavior. No injuries were reported during the altercation.
Further investigation revealed that the previous day, Bane had confronted a juvenile downtown, directed racial slurs at them, and screamed “white power.”
Bane was located and arrested. He was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department and lodged in lieu of $200 bail.
At his arraignment on Monday, his bail was suspended, and he was placed in the custody of the Department of Mental Health for evaluation. Bane faces charges of larceny, simple assault, and aggravated disorderly conduct motivated by hate. He has been ordered to avoid contact with his victims.
Bane has a history of violent behavior, including a November incident where he threatened people at a shopping plaza, and an altercation at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital in January.
