KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – One man was seriously injured in stabbing at a convenience store in Keene Wednesday afternoon.

According to a news release from the Keene Police Department, officers responded to The Factory convenience store at 219 West Street around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon for the reported stabbing.

Officers searched the area and located Kristopher Powers, 35, of Keene, a short distance away. Powers was detained pending an investigation, he was later arrested and charged with a felony count of second degree assault and one misdemeanor charge of violation of a protective order.

The misdemeanor charge stems from Powers’ interaction with someone else on scene who was not the stabbing victim. He’s being held without bail pending arraignment.

The stabbing victim, only identified by police as a 46-year-old male, was found at Cheshire Medical Center where he sought treatment for serious injuries that were not believed to be life threatening.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with further information should call the Keene Police Department at 603-357-9820.
