JAFFREY, N.H.-(MyKeeneNow) A missing hiker who was reported lost in Monadnock State Park Thursday was found safe.

New Hampshire Fish and Game received a call from Monadnock State Park Rangers just before 5:30 p.m. about a hiker who had gone missing. The hiker, identified as 22-year-old Isam Hejazi from South Easton, MA, was last seen shortly after 3 p.m. near the junction of White Dot and White Cross Trails.

Hejazi’s hiking companions reported that they had left him behind when he started struggling to keep up with their pace. However, when they went back to find him, they were unable to locate him. In response, the park rangers initiated a search of the area trails but were unsuccessful in finding Hejazi. Consequently, they requested additional support from New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officers, who then enlisted the Upper Valley Wilderness Response Team to assist in the search effort.

Hejazi reappeared before the second team of searchers could begin. He was safe and uninjured.

Following this incident, New Hampshire Fish and Game emphasized the importance of preparedness and safety while hiking. They reminded hikers to never hike alone and to stay with their companions, particularly if someone is struggling. For more information on hiking safety, they recommended visiting hikesafe.com.
