KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Monadnock United Way has already raised nearly a third of its $1.5 million fundraising goal as it launches its annual “Our Monadnock, Our Impact” campaign.
The campaign, according to a news release from the Monadnock United Way, has brought in $460,000 so far, with hopes of reaching $1,519,000 by the end, according to a news release from the organization.
“As we work together, we are building a Monadnock region where everyone can thrive,” said Ashley Elliott, one of the campaign’s co-chairs and board chair of Rise for baby and family. “Let’s keep that momentum going.”
The kickoff event this week also included the presentation of the Ken Jue Award, the release said. This year’s recipient was JoAnn Fenton, recognized for decades of community service. Her son, State Sen. Donovan Fenton, presented the award, saying, “My friends and I jokingly call her St. JoAnn. If you’re in need, she’s there helping you. She’s out there volunteering. You have to lead from the front, and if you know my mom, she’s always leading from the front.”
The event also featured a panel discussion focused on the challenges and opportunities in the childcare workforce. Panelists described collaborative efforts among businesses, schools, and nonprofits to address shortages in skilled childcare professionals. MUW said part of its focus is on creating pathways for high school students, career changers, and existing childcare workers to pursue training and advancement.
