(MyKeeneNow) – The N.H. Attorney General’s office has released the names of those involved in the tragic events that unfolded early Thursday morning in Troy and Portsmouth.

Trent Weston, 37, is identified as the suspect in the deaths of his wife, Brittany Weston, 37, and their 8-year-old son, Benson Weston.

According to Maine State Police Col. Bill Ross, Trent Weston called 9-1-1 around 2:10 a.m., reporting that he had been involved in a physical altercation with his wife at their home on Monadnock Street in Troy. When police arrived, they discovered Brittany Weston deceased. The couple’s son, Benson, was initially missing but was later found dead in the back seat of Weston’s vehicle.

Following the incident in Troy, Trent Weston drove to the Piscataqua River Bridge in Portsmouth. Law enforcement attempted negotiations starting around 2:30 a.m., which were unsuccessful. Weston exited his vehicle while brandishing a firearm and was subsequently shot by state police. He fell into the river below and was quickly recovered by the Coast Guard.

The deaths of Brittany and Benson Weston were both ruled homicides. An autopsy conducted by Associate Medical Examiner Abigail Alexander confirmed that Brittany Weston died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head, while the cause of Benson Weston’s death was also multiple gunshot wounds. The Maine Attorney General’s Office and Maine State Police continue to investigate the officer-involved shooting that led to Trent Weston’s death.

The Piscataqua River Bridge, which connects Portsmouth to Kittery, Maine, was closed for several hours during the morning commute and reopened around 9:40 a.m. The investigation into the events remains ongoing, with both the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit and New Hampshire State Police Major Crimes Unit handling the deaths, and the Maine Attorney General’s Office leading the inquiry into the officer-involved shooting.

Further details are expected as the investigation progresses. This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
