KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Residents of the Monadnock Region will have a chance to help shape the future of New Hampshire’s moose, deer, bear, and wild turkey populations at a public meeting in Keene tomorrow.

The N.H. Fish and Game Department will host the event Thursday, April 10, at 6 p.m. in Room 620 at Keene High School, as part of a statewide effort to gather input on the state’s next 10-year Big Game Management Plan.

The plan, which will guide population goals for big game species from 2026 through 2035, is currently in draft form and open for public comment. The meeting in Keene is one of four being held across the state this month to collect feedback from hunters, conservationists, and anyone interested in wildlife management.

While the plan outlines regional population objectives, it does not address hunting season dates or regulations—those will continue to be set through the usual rulemaking process. Instead, the focus is on long-term planning for sustainable wildlife populations and healthy habitats.

Those unable to attend the Keene meeting can still share their thoughts by submitting written comments via email to comments@wildlife.nh.gov (with “Game Plan Comment” in the subject line) or by mailing them to the Wildlife Division, N.H. Fish and Game Department, 11 Hazen Drive, Concord 03301. All input must be received by April 25.

Draft species plans and additional information are available at wildlife.nh.gov. The final plan is expected to be adopted in June and will take effect on Jan. 1, 2026, replacing the current version that expires at the end of this year.
