CONCORD, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Beginning Nov. 3, 2025, anyone visiting a New Hampshire Division of Motor Vehicles office will need to book an appointment in advance.
The DMV announced this week that it will transition entirely to an appointment-based system in an effort to shorten lines, streamline service, and offer customers a more predictable experience.
“This change is designed to reduce waiting times in DMV lobbies and provide a more efficient, personalized experience for all customers,” DMV Director John C. Marasco said in a statement.
The department handles more than 425,000 in-person transactions annually across its 14 statewide offices. To handle that demand, the DMV will expand appointment availability and extend hours at its busiest branches (Keene’s is not on the list) until 5 p.m. twice a week.
Customers who need immediate service will still have options. Each day, a limited number of same-day appointments will be released for urgent needs such as license renewals or registration issues.
Appointments can be made online through the DMV’s website by selecting the “Make an Appointment” option on the homepage. Walk-in visitors will be directed by staff to schedule an appointment, either at that location or another nearby office with availability.
The move continues the DMV’s broader effort to modernize operations, which also includes expanded online services and a focus on improving in-person customer support.
