KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – A New Hampshire man is facing charges following a string of incidents in Peterborough over the weekend.
Around 3:30 Sunday afternoon the Peterborough Police Department received a report that a man had just broken into an apartment on Pine Street. The resident confronted the intruder, who then fled on a bicycle, according to a news release from the department.
Minutes later police received a call from a resident on Grove Street reporting that his electric bicycle had been stolen from his yard and the suspect was riding it north on Grove Street. Shortly after that, another Grove Street resident contacted police and said their home security camera caught someone trying to break in. They were not home at the time, but the camera footage was immediately provided to police.
Shortly after 4:00 Sunday afternoon officers located the suspect who had broken into the Grove Street residence riding a bicycle westbound on Route 101. He was identified as Iain Ours, 21, of Rochester New Hampshire, and he matched the description of the Pine Street burglar and the electric bicycle theft suspect.
The bike Ours was riding when police located him on Route 101 was not an electric bicycle, but as police were talking to Ours, a Scott Street resident approached and said the bicycle Ours was on was just stolen from his yard, and the electric bicycle was left behind.
Ours was arrested and charged with a felony count of burglary, and misdemeanor charges of criminal trespassing, two counts of theft, and receiving stolen property – possession of stolen checks.
Ours was ordered held on preventative detention and transported to the Valley Street Jail in Manchester.
