UPDATE 11/15/25 7:40 a.m.

CHARLESTOWN, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella on Saturday released new details about the officer-involved shooting that occurred Friday night on Caryl Lane in Charlestown.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, a Charlestown police officer attempted to stop a speeding vehicle without a license plate around 8:30 p.m. on November 14. The driver, identified as Christian Paquette, 23, allegedly refused to pull over on Claremont Road and instead accelerated, leading to a police pursuit reaching speeds of about 90 mph.

Paquette eventually stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. During the chase, the officer saw Paquette holding a knife, officials said. After Paquette reportedly ignored commands to drop the weapon and moved toward the officer, the officer fired his weapon, striking Paquette. He was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in stable condition. No one else was in Paquette’s vehicle, and the officer was not physically injured.

The officer was equipped with a body-worn camera, which recorded the moments before, during, and after the shooting.

Paquette has been charged by Charlestown police in connection with the vehicle pursuit and his alleged actions toward the officer.

The New Hampshire Department of Justice, with assistance from the State Police Major Crime Unit, continues to investigate the use of deadly force. The officer’s identity will be released after a formal interview, expected within 5–10 business days. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
