SWANZEY, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Meet Wasabi, a gentle 5-year-old brown and black tabby with a quiet soul and a cautious heart. Life hasn’t always been kind to her—after being found as a stray, she spent several years in a loving home until her caregiver’s health no longer allowed them to care for her. Now at Monadnock Humane Society, Wasabi is looking for a new beginning.

Wasabi is what we call a “spirit cat.” She’s not into cuddles or being touched, but she can be a calming presence in the right home. A low-key environment with a predictable routine is exactly what she needs to feel safe. She’s most comfortable when given space, time, and understanding—and in return, she’ll bring a quiet kind of companionship that doesn’t ask for much.

She gets along well with other cats and could even do okay with a mellow, cat-savvy dog. A confident feline friend might help her settle in more quickly. Wasabi may never be a lap cat, but she has the potential to become a sweet, steady shadow in someone’s peaceful home.

If you believe every cat deserves a second chance—even the shy ones—Wasabi might be the silent companion your heart has been waiting for.
