SWANZEY, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) The Monadnock Regional School District is taking another step toward disposing of the former Cutler Elementary School, with a public hearing scheduled this evening evening on the district’s proposal to sell the Swanzey property.

The hearing will begin at 7 p.m. in the library at Monadnock Regional Middle High School, 580 Old Homestead Highway, in Swanzey.

Residents and other members of the public will have an opportunity to comment on the proposed sale during the hearing.

Cutler Elementary, located at 31 South Winchester St., closed at the end of the last school year. Its former students have been moved to Mount Caesar Elementary School in Swanzey Center, which recently underwent renovations as part of the district’s broader effort to update its elementary school facilities.

The proposed sale requires court approval before the district can place the property on the market, making Tuesday’s hearing part of the process.

The Monadnock Regional School District serves students in Fitzwilliam, Gilsum, Richmond, Roxbury, Swanzey and Troy.

School board members have previously discussed potentially directing proceeds from the Cutler property toward construction of a new School Administrative Unit building. Any such use of the money would ultimately require approval from district voters at a future town meeting.

The district has not yet announced a buyer or sale price for the property.
