KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – In the wake of a July thunderstorm that left significant damage behind in parts of Keene, one especially hard-hit community will work to raise funds for storm repair.
Severe thunderstorms swept across the Monadnock Region the evening of July 16th and caused trees and wires to come down, and homes to partially collapse.
A preliminary assessment following the storms indicated there was just over $1.4 million in damage done to private property, most of that in the Tanglewood Mobile Home Park. Because of various stipulations, the city does not meet certain thresholds to qualify for federal aid for storm repair.
The Tanglewood Social Club is taking matters into their own hands and hosting a park-wide yard sale and Craft Fair in September. JeanMarie Surrell Rodriguez, one of the organizers, says all of the proceeds from the Tanglewood Yard Sale table, raffles, food sales, and vendor fees will be put towards removing the rest of the unsafe trees that were compromised during the storm, and other storm clean up.
The yard sale/craft fair is set for September 14th from 8 am to 1 pm in the Tanglewood park.
Any vendors interested in participating should contact Tanglewood Social Club Chair Alyson Daniels on Facebook, or at 603-757-6420, or Surrell Rodriguez also on Facebook or at 603-852-8792.
