MONADNOCK REGION, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) A regional business group is rolling out a six-figure marketing campaign aimed at strengthening the local economy by drawing both skilled workers and tourists to the Monadnock Region.
The Greater Monadnock Collaborative Regional Chamber of Commerce recently launched a $340,000 effort that includes two coordinated campaigns—one focused on recruiting workers for manufacturing jobs and another promoting tourism in downtown Keene and Peterborough.
Both initiatives fall under the chamber’s broader Magnify Monadnock strategy, which promotes the region as a place to live, work and visit, according to a news release from the organization.
According to chamber officials, the campaigns are designed to address two key economic priorities: helping local employers find workers and supporting downtown businesses.
The larger portion of the funding—nearly $240,000—supports a manufacturing workforce campaign called “Build a Rich Life.” Developed with regional employers and the marketing agency Sentinel Solutions, the campaign advertises job opportunities across digital platforms throughout New England while highlighting the lifestyle benefits of living in the Monadnock Region.
The effort also includes a job-seeker portal created by the Keene-based Communicators Group. The website allows applicants to upload a résumé once and have it shared with multiple participating manufacturers. Job seekers can also opt to have their information forwarded to Masiello Employment Services.
Since launching in late December, the campaign has generated more than 750,000 online impressions and directed over 10,000 visitors to the manufacturing page. More than 120 people have submitted résumés through the platform so far.
The workforce push is supported by a Catalyst Grant from the Northern Border Regional Commission.
In addition to highlighting job openings, the campaign promotes career pathways tied to local education programs, including training in precision optics and degree programs offered by Keene State College.
Meanwhile, a separate $100,000 tourism marketing campaign will promote travel to Keene and Peterborough during the spring, summer and fall. Developed with Freitag Marketing, the initiative will target visitors from across New England and other nearby markets.
About three-quarters of the tourism funding will focus on attracting visitors to downtown Keene, particularly as the city prepares for a major downtown reconstruction project scheduled to begin this spring. The remaining funds will promote events, outdoor recreation and attractions in downtown Peterborough.
The tourism effort is funded through the Joint Promotional Program administered by the New Hampshire Division of Travel and Tourism Development.
Chamber leaders say the two campaigns are intended to work together—bringing visitors to local businesses while also helping employers find the workforce they need to grow.
More information about the initiatives is available at the chamber’s Magnify Monadnock website.
