CONCORD, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) A statewide impaired driving enforcement effort tied to St. Patrick’s Day resulted in 15 arrests and more than 500 traffic stops, according to New Hampshire State Police.
Troopers conducted 516 traffic stops as part of the high-visibility initiative, issuing 121 speeding citations and 18 distracted driving violations. Of the 15 people arrested, four were suspected of operating under the influence.
Authorities say troopers also responded to 772 calls for service during the effort. No fatal crashes were reported statewide during the enforcement period.
The initiative was part of a broader coordinated effort involving more than 60 law enforcement agencies across the state, organized through the New Hampshire Association of Chiefs of Police. Departments from local communities, including Winchester, Dublin, Marlborough, and Alstead, took part.
Officials said the goal of the increased patrols was to deter impaired driving and improve roadway safety during one of the year’s busiest drinking holidays. The effort followed recommendations from the Governor’s Highway Task Force and was conducted in partnership with the New Hampshire Highway Safety Commission.
Police leaders say similar enforcement initiatives will continue throughout the year as part of an ongoing effort to reduce crashes and fatalities on New Hampshire roads.
