CHESTERFIELD, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Authorities are once again scouring the woods and back roads of Chesterfield and Westmoreland in search of Robert Clay, a 78-year-old resident who went missing over the summer.
A New Hampshire State Police helicopter was expected to take to the air Monday morning to assist Fish and Game conservation officers in a renewed search effort. Officials say the goal is to reexamine areas that may now be more visible as trees lose their leaves.
Clay, who has dementia, was last seen near his home on Glebe Road on the morning of June 24, 2025. A Silver Alert was issued shortly afterward. He was reported to be wearing a denim shirt and pants with white sneakers at the time.
Throughout late June, dozens of searchers combed the surrounding terrain on foot and by air. Those efforts included New Hampshire Fish and Game, State Police K9 units, the National Guard, civilian search and rescue teams, and local law enforcement. Despite the extensive response, no sign of Clay was found.
As deer hunting season gets underway, officials are asking anyone spending time outdoors in the Chesterfield or Westmoreland area to stay alert for any clues related to the case. Sightings or information can be shared with New Hampshire Fish and Game, State Police, or the Chesterfield Police Department.
Clay is described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing 155 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. He may be wearing glasses and a watch engraved with his contact information. Anyone who believes they may have seen him is asked to call New Hampshire State Police at 603- 223-4376.
