WINCHESTER, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) A serious two-vehicle crash on Route 10 in Winchester Thursday morning left multiple people injured, including one woman who was airlifted to a Massachusetts hospital.
The crash occurred around 8 a.m. near involved a Hyundai Elantra and a Hyundai Santa Fe, according to Winchester Police Chief David Rice.
The driver of the Elantra, a 20-year-old Winchester resident, pulled out onto Route 10 when and her car collided with the Santa Fe, which had five occupants — two adults and three children aged 9, 7, and 5. Rice said the Elantra’s driver was ejected from her vehicle upon impact and suffered serious injuries. She was flown by helicopter to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass., but was reportedly conscious and speaking at the scene.
The occupants of the Santa Fe sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Three were transported by ambulance to Cheshire Medical Center, and the others drove to the hospital for evaluation.
Following the crash, Route 10 was fully closed in the area of Coombs Bridge Road for about an hour as emergency responders worked to assist the injured and clear the scene. The road reopened around 9:30 a.m.
The crash remains under investigation.
