BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (MyKeeneNow) — Utilities crews are responding to a sewer main break on South Main Street, prompting traffic restrictions and detours in the area, town officials said Monday.

South Main Street at its intersection with Pine Street is operating with alternating, one-lane traffic. Pine Street is closed between South Main Street and Central Street, with traffic heading toward South Main Street being detoured via Central Street to Washington Street. Traffic control measures are in place to protect crews and motorists.

Officials said the town does not expect an interruption to sewer service at this time. Residents or businesses experiencing sewer-related issues are asked to contact the Brattleboro Department of Public Works at 802-254-4255.

South Main Street will be closed on Tuesday, January 6, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Oak Grove Avenue and Pine Street to complete repairs related to Monday’s break.

Motorists are strongly encouraged to avoid the intersection if possible and seek alternate routes. Questions can be directed to the Department of Public Works at 802-254-4255 or to Darren Pacheco at dpacheco@brattleboro.gov
