(MyKeeneNow) – Flags across New Hampshire will be lowered to half-staff on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, to honor the victims of the September 11, 2001, terror attacks. Governor Chris Sununu has issued the directive, in line with federal law, to commemorate the tragic events and the heroic efforts that followed.

Reflecting on the significance of the day, Sununu emphasized the strength and unity displayed in the aftermath of the attacks. “From one of our nation’s darkest hours, heroes emerged and Americans banded together, arm-in-arm, to heal and move forward,” Sununu remarked. He praised the bravery of first responders and the resilience of millions who rallied in support of the country, vowing that their sacrifices would not be forgotten.

In addition to the statewide observance, Governor Sununu will travel to New York City on Wednesday to participate in a memorial event for NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit Truck 2, which suffered devastating losses on 9/11. The Governor will join the families of the fallen and current members of the unit in a tribute to the 14 out of 23 ESU officers who perished while responding to the attacks.
