SWANZEY, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) The Town of Swanzey will soon have a new face overseeing its welfare services. Jessica Russell, a longtime human services professional with more than two decades of experience, has been appointed as the town’s next Welfare Director. She begins the role on September 22.
Russell most recently worked with a local nonprofit, following years with the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services, where she focused on public assistance and community support programs according to a news release from the town.
In her new position, Russell will be responsible for helping Swanzey residents in need of emergency support and will oversee the town’s welfare policies and procedures.
Town Administrator Lori Rautiola said the hiring brings valuable expertise to the town’s administrative team. “Jessica brings a wealth of knowledge in human services, and we are excited to welcome her,” Rautiola said in the release. “Her experience and dedication to helping others will be an asset to the residents of Swanzey.”
Russell said she is eager to step into the role. “I look forward to making a meaningful difference in the lives of community members and helping connect them with the vital resources and support they need,” she said.
