CONCORD, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – A Swanzey resident has been formally charged in federal court for the theft of firearms from a licensed gun dealership, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Jane E. Young.
Khale Guillou, a 19-year-old from Swanzey, has been indicted on one count of stealing firearms from a federally licensed firearms dealer, according to a news release. Guillou is currently in custody in Massachusetts on separate charges and is scheduled to appear in federal court at a future date.
The indictment alleges that on July 6, Guillou unlawfully took 17 firearms from a licensed firearms dealer, including a rifle and 16 handguns.
If convicted of the theft, Guillou faces a potential maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, followed by up to 3 years of supervised release, and a fine that could reach $250,000, the release said.
The investigation was spearheaded by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), with crucial support from the police departments of Keene, Swanzey, Winchester, and Tewksbury. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Krasinski.
This case is part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) initiative, which focuses on reducing violent crime and gun-related violence by fostering collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. The PSN strategy, revamped on May 26, 2021, emphasizes building community trust, supporting violence prevention programs, setting clear enforcement priorities, and tracking progress.
