SWANZEY, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – An ATV accident in Swanzey left one person injured Sunday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m., according to a news release from N.H. Fish and Game.

Gary Covey, 48, of Swanzey, was operating his ATV for work purposes when the vehicle, towing a trailer, lost control on a steep slope. The ATV slid and jackknifed, causing it to roll over. Covey sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by Cheshire County Ambulance to Cheshire Medical Center.

Responding to the scene were members of the Swanzey Police Department, Cheshire County Ambulance, and a Conservation Officer from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.

The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department is urging all off-highway recreational vehicle (OHRV) operators to remain vigilant about their surroundings, recognize potential hazards, and always use safety equipment.
