KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Listeners of WKBK Radio’s Good Morning with Dan Mitchell got a behind-the-scenes look this week at one of the region’s most anticipated family events: Touch a Truck. Representatives from the local nonprofit Feeding Tiny Tummies—director Jennifer Dassau and assistant director Shelby Arlen—joined Mitchell in the studio to talk about their mission, the excitement around the event, and the community’s overwhelming support.
The Touch a Truck event, which takes place this Saturday, May 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cheshire Fairgrounds, offers children the chance to explore a wide array of trucks and emergency vehicles. Admission is $5 per person (the cost to feed a child for a week), children under 2 are free, and kids receiving food assistance from Feeding Tiny Tummies will be admitted at no cost. The event will be held rain or shine.
With more than 25 vendors, food, games, animals from Animal Grace Sanctuary, a cakewalk, and other free activities inside, the event promises a fun-filled day for families—while serving a serious purpose. All proceeds go directly back into Feeding Tiny Tummies’ programs.
Feeding Tiny Tummies, founded in 2017, has grown significantly from its roots as a school-based food support initiative. During the pandemic, the organization expanded to serve entire families and the elderly. Today, it provides weekly food bags to approximately 250 children and operates a thrift store offering free clothing and household items to those in need.
Shelby highlighted the Elijah Project, which supports teens and young adults with essentials and resources.
The interview also celebrated the recent success of a cereal donation drive held by St. James Episcopal Church, which collected over 450 boxes for the organization.
