TROY, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) — The Troy Fire Department announced the death of Fire Capt. Robert Crowell, a longtime fire service leader with more than five decades of service across multiple departments in New Hampshire.

Crowell joined the Troy Fire Department in 2001, where he served as training officer, secretary of the Troy Fire Association and a deputy forest fire warden. During his tenure, he was responsible for training new and current members and participated extensively in emergency responses, departmental meetings, training exercises and town events.

In addition to his work in Troy, Crowell served as a state instructor for the New Hampshire Fire Academy for much of his career.

Crowell previously served with the Keene Fire Department from 1970 until his retirement in 1999, attaining the rank of captain. In 1999, he also joined the Meadowood County Area Fire Department, where he was later appointed chief, a position he held until his death. He additionally served with the Fitzwilliam and Swanzey fire departments for many years.

In a statement, the Troy Fire Department said they will miss having Crowell “around at the firehouse and all the training and knowledge he had to offer.”

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced and will be released when available.
