KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – On today’s episode of Good Morning with Dan Mitchell on WKBK Radio, host Dan Mitchell welcomed Deirdre Fitzgerald, chair of the Monadnock International Film Festival (MONIFF), to discuss the upcoming 12th annual festival.

This year’s festival will take place from Friday, Oct. 4 to Thursday, Oct. 17 and will be hosted across multiple venues, including The Showroom, Keene State College’s Putnam Theatre, and the Keene Public Library as well as online.

Fitzgerald shared that the festival will showcase more than 70 films, ranging from shorts and documentaries to narrative features. Filmmakers from around the world can submit their entries through the Film Freeway platform.

A unique aspect of MONIFF is its Audience Choice Awards, which allow attendees to vote in several categories, including shorts, documentaries, and feature films. The feature film award is sponsored by Florentine Films, a renowned documentary production company.

Among the films highlighted this year are Inundation District, a timely piece exploring climate change in Boston; Film is Dead, Long Live Film, a documentary focused on preserving celluloid film; and Not Fade Away, which dives into the culture surrounding the Grateful Dead.

In addition to screenings, the festival will feature free programming at the Keene Public Library, along with special events such as a Q&A with filmmakers and an after-party featuring live music by a local band.

Tickets and passes for the festival are available for purchase at the official website, moniff.org.
