ANTRIM, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – A fast-moving fire destroyed a commercial auto repair garage Wednesday night, prompting a two-alarm response and leaving the building a total loss.

The Antrim Fire Department was dispatched at 8:15 p.m. to Bottom of the Hill Auto for a reported garage fire with flames visible. The first officer on scene reported heavy fire on the back side of the 1,861-square-foot building, a 1930 structure containing a significant fuel load. Flames had already broken through the roof.

A partial roof collapse and several explosions inside forced firefighters to take a defensive, exterior attack. Water was supplied through two hydrants and multiple tankers as crews worked to contain the blaze. Firefighters also had difficulty reaching pockets of fire trapped in a void space created when a second roof was built over the original.

The fire was upgraded to a second alarm to rotate in additional personnel. The bulk of the flames were knocked down within about 30 minutes, but crews remained on scene for extensive overhaul. One firefighter suffered a minor facial injury.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Officials say it is currently undetermined but does not appear suspicious. The building and most of its contents were destroyed.

A GoFundMe has been created to support the owners of Bottom of the Hill Auto following the loss. The campaign can be found at: https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-for-bottom-of-the-hill-auto-family

Mutual aid agencies responding included departments from Bennington, Deering, Francestown, Hancock, Henniker, Hillsboro, Peterborough, Stoddard, and Capital Area 1, along with Antrim Police.
