BRATTLEBORO, VT (MyKeeneNow) Green Mountain Power will start moving overhead power lines underground along Ames Hill on Monday, a project expected to take several months and bring traffic disruptions to the area.

The work is part of a countywide effort to shift lines underground, a move officials say will help prevent widespread outages during storms and improve long-term service reliability.

Drivers using Ames Hill should anticipate short delays next week as crews operate in the roadway. Public works officials are asking motorists to slow down and use caution while passing through the construction zone.

The project is scheduled to continue into the fall, with the town planning to release weekly updates on road impacts and progress.
