KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) A new pharmacy is now open in Keene following a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday morning at the Walmart store in Riverside Plaza.
The grand opening marks the completion of a months-long remodel at the Winchester Street location, which now includes a full-service pharmacy offering prescriptions, immunizations, medication counseling and same-day delivery options.
Construction on the pharmacy began in early February. The addition was driven in part by shifting demand after several regional pharmacy closures in 2025, including the Rite Aid that previously operated in the same plaza, when many prescriptions were transferred to other pharmacies.
During the ceremony, pharmacy manager Kaitlin Latta also highlighted the significance of opening a new pharmacy at a time when the industry has seen closures.
“It’s really great to see that with all the exposures going on in the pharmacy role, we’re still opening Walmart pharmacies, and we’re able to be there for the community. It’s really exciting,” she said.
Friday’s event highlighted both the new pharmacy and broader store upgrades designed to create a more modern and streamlined shopping experience. Improvements include a redesigned layout, expanded product selections, enhanced digital tools and faster checkout options.
Walmart representatives said the pharmacy will provide local access to medications, vaccines and clinical services, along with support from on-site pharmacists.
The Keene project is part of a larger statewide investment by Walmart, which plans to remodel multiple stores across New Hampshire in 2026. Company officials say the upgrades are aimed at improving convenience for customers while expanding services and creating local job opportunities.
