WALPOLE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – A home in Walpole is considered a total loss and one person was injured following a second-alarm blaze Friday afternoon.

According to a news release from the North Walpole Fire & Rescue Department, crews were dispatched to the home on Pearl Street around 3:30 p.m. for a reported house fire.

Those arriving first on scene found heavy smoke and fire and it was upgraded to a second alarm as more crews arrived to find heavy fire showing from the residence.

Homes in that area are settled fairly close together and crews worked to protect the neighboring houses, but one did sustain some exterior damage.

All of the occupants inside of the home made it out safely and the blaze was knocked down quickly. One person did suffer some minor burns and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The department said it is considered a total loss and the Red Cross is providing assistance for the residents.

Fire crews from Bellows Falls Vermont, Langdon, Charlestown, and Walpole Fire-EMS assisted on scene  along with Golden Cross Ambulance and Walpole Police, who had warned the community of potential delays and detours in the area at the time of the blaze.

The Alstead Fire Department and the Westminster, Vermont Fire Department provided coverage for the North Walpole Station.

No word yet on the cause of the blaze.
