WESTFIELD, MA (MyKeeneNow) – The Keene State College women’s soccer team traveled to take on the Westfield State University Owls on Wednesday night, as KSC looked to rebound after a late defeat in their previous matchup against Wheaton College on Saturday. Westfield State wouldn’t let that happen as a hat trick from Delaney Parker and a clean sheet in goal from Julia Robak, gave WSU the 4-0 victory over KSC in the contest.

How it Happened

Westfield State was on the attack early as they got four shots off in the opening 13 minutes. KSC’s goalkeeper, Riley Andriski, made a save on the first shot from WSU, just 36 seconds in and saw their second shot go wide of the net. Westfield State’s Delaney Parker took the third and fourth shot for the Owls and converted on both shot attempts, in the ninth and twelfth minute, to put WSU up 2-0 early on in the contest. After Andriski saved Parker’s next shot to prevent the hat trick, Kaylee Cormier tried to pull KSC within a goal, but WSU’s goalkeeper, Julia Robak, saved her shot to keep KSC off the board, with 24 minutes remaining in the first. Cormier’s shot was the only shot for KSC in the opening half, as the rest of the 24 minutes, WSU went on to have four of their five shots be on goal, but Andriski saved them all, to limit WSU’s lead to 2-0 heading into the second half of play.

Andriski made a save 1:58 into the second half, and as KSC went to try to cut WSU’s lead to one on the other side of the field a minute later, they would be denied from a defensive save by Gabby Stolfi on the first attempt, and a save in net from Robak on the second shot, to hold KSC scoreless. WSU answered right back with another goal 34 seconds after Robak’s save in net, to go up 3-0, after Kiana Muratsuka scored her third goal against KSC over the past two matchups, dating back to the 2023 season. Over the next 20 minutes of play, WSU continued to give Keene State’s defense trouble, as they outshot KSC, 6-1. Luckily for KSC, Andriski made four saves, one shot hit the crossbar, and the other was blocked, to limit WSU from scoring again. Robak prevented KSC from scoring in the 77th and 80th minute with another pair of saves in net to prevent KSC’s comeback, while Parker put the final nail in the coffin with 7:33 remaining, to complete the hat trick and give WSU a 4-0 lead, which would hold for a final in the contest.
