
Four Keene State field hockey players earned All-LEC honors: Grace Bazin named Offensive Player of the Year; Irini Stefanakos, Hannah Wood, and Meghan Daileanes also recognized.

In a contest that had few quality offensive opportunities by both teams, every chance mattered for both Keene State College and Plymouth State University in the Little East Conference Quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday night. The Panthers made the most of their opportunities on the day, as they capitalized on three different opportunities to pick up the 3-0 win over KSC.

Brianna Finke played hero for the Owls as she not only scored the first goal in program history, she scored the game-winning overtime goal for the Keene State College women’s ice hockey team in their 3-2 overtime win over Plymouth State University for the first win in the Owls’ program history.

Keene High School’s field hockey team has made history, winning the Division I state title with an undefeated 18-0-1 season. The Blackbirds secured a 1-0 victory over Dover, thanks to Olive Thatcher’s late goal. This first-ever championship win marks a milestone for Keene High, as the team celebrated with a hometown parade, greeted by cheers and a police and fire escort.

In the Owls’ first scored meet of their 2024-2025 season, the Keene State College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams hosted the Purple Knights from Saint Michael’s College on Saturday afternoon at the Spaulding Pool/Recreation Center. KSC picked up six event wins on the contest, but the men’s team was defeated, 212-76 and the women’s team fell, 174-126.

Four Keene State student-athletes were recognized by the Little East Conference for their performances during the week of October 7-13. Field hockey players Grace Seabury and Katelyn Nicotera earned honors, with Seabury named LEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week and Nicotera receiving Rookie and Goalkeeper of the Week awards. In women’s swimming and diving, Megan Strzegowski was named Diver of the Week, while freshman Madelynn Keyes earned Rookie Diver of the Week. Both teams will compete in upcoming home events.

The Keene State College men’s soccer team continued their unbeaten run, achieving a 2-2 draw against the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) on Tuesday night at Dr. Ron Butcher Field.

The Keene Board of Education has unanimously voted to rename the small gymnasium at Keene High School in honor of David Minickiello, a cherished former wrestling coach and physical education teacher who passed away in April 2023. This 8-0 decision followed strong support from the community and former students, highlighting Minickiello’s immense impact on the school’s wrestling program.

Six Keene State College student-athletes were recognized by the Little East Conference for outstanding achievements during the week of September 30 to October 6.
